Inspiration
I knew I wanted to make a game because I've been learning Godot for a week or so, so I ventured to make a simple high-score game that would be doable to create in the weekend. I gravitated towards pixelated graphics because it seemed like the art style that I would be able to create sprites for myself, and I am somewhat pleased with the result! For the character (me) I took some inspiration from the pixel art from Celeste.
How I Built It
I used Godot for the scripting and game-making and the Piskel website for sprite-creation.
Challenges / Shortcomings
I am not an artist nor am I well-versed in Godot, so learning both of those skills while trying to use them practically was a large amount of the time invested in this project. Due to lack of time I was unable to add more interesting mechanics such as different types of obstacles or different character interactions (jumping/ducking), and the menu system is not as polished as I would like it to be.
Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the little game I put together and it was very education for me as an aspring developer!
