Inspiration
As college students, we want to have balance between academics and our personal lives. Busy schedules make it hard to plan for people with such different schedules. However, college students lack a centralized, user-friendly platform for easily discovering, planning, and coordinating social hangouts, leading to indecision, disconnection, and missed opportunities for meaningful connection. This inspired us to create down.
What it does
down is an "all in one" platform for scheduling and finding hangout ideas. Users also have the opportunity to share their memories and the places they've been publicly or just with friends.
How we built it
We built this prototype by following the product development cycle. We went through the stages of ideation, user research, wire-framing, and prototyping using Figma.
Challenges we ran into
In the beginning, we struggled a lot with narrowing down the scope of our project. We had so many ideas and features we wanted to include, but we had to scale things back to ensure everything was achievable within our timeframe. One of our biggest challenges was completing our Lo-fi's. Our idea was so broad and connected. We also had a lot of creative space to work with, so we took a lot of time brainstorming different ideas.
What we learned
- Through our research, we were able to learn more about what the users wanted and catered the app to fit their needs
- Planning each step (from sketches to high-fi) helped us create a finalized product that we can be proud of
- We were successfully able to create an app that helps our users with planning their social hangouts easily
