🌟 About the Project

This project wasn’t just a hackathon idea — it was personal.

My future son-in-law works at a growing service business and shared how difficult it was to track jobs, invoices, schedules, and team responsibilities using disconnected tools. We saw an opportunity to build something better — together.

What started as a conversation around the dinner table quickly turned into a collaborative build: a full-featured app designed to streamline operations, improve accountability, and add a little joy to the everyday grind.

💡 What Inspired Us

The inspiration came from real-world pain points: handwritten schedules, missed updates, manual invoicing, and a growing business that needed scalable systems. But what made it special was getting to build it with someone in the family — a future son-in-law who not only understood the business needs but brought valuable insight into how to design a system that would actually get used.

Working together gave this project more heart — it wasn’t just solving a problem, it was building something meaningful as a team.

🧱 How We Built It

We used modern tools to move quickly and stay flexible:

• React + Vite for a smooth, component-based frontend
• Tailwind CSS for fast and responsive styling
• Supabase for database, auth, file storage, and edge functions
• PostgreSQL triggers to automate logic like absence tracking and email alerts
• Bolt.new + Netlify for rapid development and deployment
• Custom animations for delight and clarity

We collaborated on everything from schema design to UI layout, refining features based on actual workflow needs from the business.

🧠 What We Learned

• Working closely with someone who uses the app day-to-day leads to better features, faster
• Supabase is incredibly powerful — but balancing triggers, row-level security, and auth roles takes planning
• Animations like group-hover:scale-[3] and custom bounce-soft-once effects can elevate the experience
• Real-time collaboration makes development faster — and more fun

🧗 Challenges We Faced

• Mapping real-world business processes into clean, intuitive flows
• Preventing oversized images and hover effects from breaking layouts (hello, translate-x fixes!)
• Coordinating Supabase auth roles for admins, techs, and managers
• Finding time to build around full-time jobs, family dinners, and wedding planning

🎉 Final Thoughts

This project represents more than technical progress — it’s a shared achievement between family members, built on trust, respect, and the desire to make life easier for a growing business.

We walked away with a powerful tool that’s already solving real problems — and a deeper connection from having built it together.
