Inspiration
We were inspired by co-op puzzle games, and wanted to try the opposite.
What it does
It is a game where two players must travel through multiple rooms in a dungeon, and can get power ups to help them selves, or hurt the other player! It randomly picks from a couple pre-made rooms.
How we built it
We used Python and Pygame in order to create the game. It is data driven, meaning that you can edit and create levels without having to go into the actual code, you can just edit the .json files!
Challenges we ran into
We didn't know eachother, and we were some of the last few people left at the team formation. Luckily we all had experience in python in common!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Being able to create levels in a json file
- Having interactive components in each level
- Original art
What we learned
We learned more about how vectors and game math works, as well as how to dynamically load data. We also gained experience with Python, Pygame, and game development!
What's next for Double Dungeon
- More powerup
- More levels
- More hazards
- Potential online play!
