Inspiration
Cybersecurity and digital literacy training are often boring, outdated, and ineffective. We wanted to reimagine learning as something immersive and exciting by combining spy-thriller storytelling with AI-powered simulations. Inspired by modern misinformation, deepfakes, and cyber threats, we created Dossier to train users for the real challenges of the AI era.
What it does
Dossier is an AI-powered spy academy where users complete interactive missions to build modern intelligence skills. Players learn to detect AI-generated misinformation, interrogate suspects through psychology-based dialogue, and defend classified systems from cyberattacks. It transforms passive training into hands-on missions.
How we built it
We built Dossier using Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, and Framer Motion for a polished cinematic interface. We used Gemini to power dynamic mission logic, adaptive responses, and AI-driven scenarios. ElevenLabs was integrated for immersive voice interactions and mission briefings.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was balancing fun gameplay with real educational value. We also had to manage API latency, design immersive UI under hackathon time pressure, and make AI responses feel consistent, believable, and useful in real time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating a polished concept that blends education, entertainment, and real-world relevance. We successfully turned serious topics like misinformation and cybersecurity into engaging spy missions, while building a cohesive experience with strong visuals and AI integration.
What we learned
We learned how powerful storytelling can be when paired with education. We also gained experience integrating multiple AI tools, designing for user engagement, and rapidly building a full product under intense time constraints.
What's next for Dossier
Next, we want to expand Dossier into a full training platform with personalized difficulty, multiplayer team missions, progression systems, more mission types, analytics for educators, and real-world cybersecurity curriculum partnerships.
