Inspiration
DoseUP is an app designed to help college students book leftover vaccines, in a stress free (legal) way. During our research we found that one of the biggest worries of the current college students was being able to get the vaccine so that they can keep their friends and family safe. By linking the supply with their need, with the help of healthcare providers in various areas, the app pushes notifications to the user, make them aware of the time, and provide real-time information about where and how they can get the vaccine. College students can now get vaccinated without the stress of having to call different pharmacies in their state at all times of the night for extras. The provider side of the app also allows the providers to check if the vaccine has been taken and then mark it as used.
Challenges we ran into
Being that there isn't any app like this in the market yet, there are no examples and no way to do comparative research on this.
What we learned
Based on the survey collected of more than 110 students in the span of under 24 hours, it was found that 75% weren't able to get vaccinated yet and 98.9% of them would like to get vaccinated. Out of that group, 95.4% of them would be interested in receiving live information about extra and available vaccines in their respective areas. On the other hand, a quarter of the respondents has received the COVID-19 vaccine. Although the majority were able to get it because of being apart of the phase in their respective states, 22% of them were actually able to get them not from the phases but due to the availability of extra vaccines.
What's next for DoseUp
Ideally, further user testing would be done, as well as implementing more quality features for the users such as a "Success" message that also doubles to include information about effects experienced after taking doses of the vaccine and aftercare suggestions.
