Inspiration
Why get frustrated over the unknowns of housing? Find out where you're likely to live, and skip the stress.
How it works
Takes data from previous room draws and consolidates it into relevant information, such as averages or suite numbers. The user can select a dorm and floor, and see which numbers and grades commonly occupy the rooms there.
Challenges I ran into
Inconsistent formatting of history tables, merging file formats, displaying rectangles properly, map display in the background, finding the coordinates and dimensions of literally every room on North Campus, etc.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Getting past all of the challenges
What I learned
Having easy to use, consistent data is very helpful for assembling a product. Having this data organized ahead of time also saves a lot of time.
What's next for Dormitory Searchitory
More interactivity can be implemented, such as allowing the user to enter their own room draw numbers and changing the colors of the dorms based on this number (to show which ones are easy or hard to get based on that number).
