My journey into university life 1.5 years ago came with a steep learning curve—not just in the classroom, but in my dorm room. I shared a space with four other students from different departments. We shared everything: rent, food, and utilities.
As students, we relied on income from private tutoring. Since payments were often delayed, we never had enough money at the same time. This meant one or two roommates often covered the others, leading to a "cloud of suspicion" and awkward conversations about who owed what. I realized we didn't have a money problem; we had a transparency problem. I built DormApp to turn those awkward "Hey, do you owe me?" conversations into clear, data-driven insights.
I wanted to create a lightweight, accessible web application that could handle the messy reality of group expenses.
Being a non computer science student had me led to a hard time building it.
I showed it my seniors and they appreciated my work saying its a good initiative.
Just building a light app won't draw attention to much people
There are plenty of rooms like UI design, adding features etc. to get it updated and I am working on it.
