Inspiration
It started with a missed trip.
A few months ago, I was planning a weekend escape, but none of my friends were free. I came across a reel where strangers had joined a group trip-and it hit me: why wasn’t there an easy way for people to find and join open group trips happening near them?
TripShare is more than a travel app. It’s an open invitation - to explore, to connect, and to find your people in the wild.
I’ve been in that space - wanting to travel but not having the right people, or the right plan. I wanted to fix that. Not just for backpackers or solo travelers, but for companies, communities, and creators who love bringing people together through travel.
What it does
That’s when TripShare was born - a platform where anyone can publish a group trip and others can join in with just a click. Whether it’s a beach camp in Gokarna or a spontaneous bike ride to Leh, I believe travel becomes richer when it’s shared.
How we built it
I decided to keep it simple:
Frontend-only with data stored directly in Airtable
Firebase Authentication to manage logins securely
Clean and modern UI built with React and TailwindCSS
No heavy backend. Just the essentials. Focused on speed, simplicity, and elegance.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up Airtable to act like a proper backend took iteration.
Ensuring Firebase Auth and Airtable worked together smoothly.
Designing a UI that felt inspiring yet lightweight on mobile and desktop.
Most importantly, balancing simplicity with the need for real functionality - posting, joining, and discovering trips.
What we learned
Inspiration is everywhere - sometimes in a missed plan.
Building in public and testing with real users early saved us time.
Simplicity scales - users don’t need 100 features, just one that works beautifully
What's next for Tripshare
