Inspiration

The current situation in Ukraine has multiple humanitarian challenges that could be relieved by technology.

What it does

Our project tries to solve the problem of knowing if your loved ones or safe or not by using a data registry created by live users in Ukraine. The app also features a heat map showing areas of shelling and fire.

How we built it

We found a data repository that is being updated every day using live news data about Ukraine's war location, using that data we created a heat map. And also there is a form for inputting the status of a deceased registry to maintain a Dead or Alive status which can be used to find if a person is still alive or not.

Challenges we ran into

Collecting valid data was the key to this project, although we are still in progress with the validation part, a simple idea that we came up with was to verify all the users who get to fill in the deceased registry form using Ukraine state Id and location at the time of signup, thus allowing all valid data to this deceased registry.

What's next for DOPOMOHTY

The map feature can be enhanced by sending notifications when a person enters a war zone or a shelling zone. More enhancements is needed for security.
