Inspiration
We live in increasingly polarizing times. A poll published by CNN in 2017 showed that around two thirds of Democrats and one half of Republicans have either a few, or no friends in the opposite party. Doozy seeks to improve political discourse by allowing for conversation surrounding differences while showcasing what makes us similar.
What it does
Doozy is a social networking platform that considers someone's personal interests, as well as a few viewpoints on current issues in today's political sphere. Doozy then matches individuals on the site to chat that have shared interests, but some kind of disagreement in terms of political viewpoint. This way, Doozy users are united by their similarities, while still encouraging room for healthy, and productive, disagreement.
How we built it
The front end of Doozy was developed using Angular web framework. Database management was done in Python and mySQL. Algorithm and data analytics were done in Python and Standard Library (Google Sheets API Communications).
Challenges we ran into
Combining all the different frameworks/languages/softwares that we used.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Unifying three very different pieces of software.
What we learned
How to create a full web app, including front end, back end, and data analysis.
