Inspiration

One in four older adults falls yearly, and distance makes every quiet day ambiguous. I wanted an option to give piece of mind to the closest relatives, and the possibility to ask a caretaker to check if something looks out of the ordinary.

What it does

The app loads a sample week of Ring visits, rings a simulated doorbell, runs a 19-turn review repairing 92 errors to zero, circles the what is uncommon. A daily newspaper that did not arrive one day. A visit at an uncommon hour. A peak of visits which are not expected.

All information about all weeks door Rings are sent as reports to the closest relative categorized, with uncommon events highlighted so the relative can decide if it shall call or contact the caretaker to pay a visit.

How we built it

TypeScript + React on Cloud Run, 20 typed actions checked by a truth engine, orchestration over AWS Bedrock with budgeted tokens, golden-run replay offline, Playwright tests, and a paper-theme UI.

Challenges we ran into

The live review of a week full of events required several LLM calls for each, which made the live app demo to last longer than the time allocated to it which meant I needed to cut few seconds to avoid going through the 3 minutes limit.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A working Ring loop: a simulated press travels the production webhook path, 20 typed actions read the week, 92 errors repaired to zero. All categorized and the highlights proposed to the relative so that with 1 click it can approve for a notification to the caregiver.

What we learned

Ring data can be messy: webhooks and history can overlap, cameras can go offline. I learned to reconcile both feeds, gate outbound actions on consent plus approval.

What's next for Doorstep Rhythm — Know Her Day Without Calling

A live pilot on a real Ring device, SMS and chime delivery with consent, per-resident quiet hours, a Sunday digest.
