Inspiration
Imagine you're busy studying, working, or cooking when someone rings your doorbell. You might not know whether it's a delivery, a guest, or an unexpected visitor. DoorIQ was inspired by this everyday problem and the idea of turning door events into simple, useful actions.
What it does
DoorIQ is a smart doorstep assistant that transforms door events into personalized recommendations. For example, when a delivery arrives, it can suggest checking the delivery instructions. For a guest, it can recommend an appropriate next step.
How we built it
We created a web-based prototype using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The interface allows users to explore simulated doorstep events and view suggested actions. The prototype demonstrates the core idea without requiring a physical doorbell or live Ring device integration.
Challenges we faced
One challenge was presenting the recommendations in a way that is simple, clear, and useful. We focused on making the interface easy to understand and the suggested actions relevant to each simulated event.
What we learned
We learned how web technologies can be used to turn an everyday problem into an interactive prototype. We also learned the importance of user-friendly design and practical, situation-based recommendations.
What's next
Future improvements could include authorized Ring event integration, customizable household instructions, real-time notifications, and additional visitor scenarios.
DoorIQ aims to make doorstep interactions smarter, simpler, and more convenient.
