Inspiration

Everyone is building up a brand for themselves. Why not make it official?!

Pandemic has been hard on all of us, from everything being virtual and contactless, many of us are not even able to meet our friends and families. Especially in college students, being together physically, they used to do n number of things, from tutoring a fellow student, mentoring a junior to even take dancing classes! These activities might still be happening in the virtual world, but it's not the same anymore.

Today, we all, students, need to build a brand for ourselves, moreover the need for finances is always increasing. Our application is a one stop solution to this very problem.

What it does

It lets you buy a virtual donut for someone. The application shows the user the students nearby, and lets you appreciate them by buying them a donut. These users are doing something unique, like your senior might be holding up a mentorship session, someone else might be taking singing classes! You can appreciate what they are doing and moreover write a note for any request! It's building their brand and their finance while also enhancing the student's local talent to be nurtured further!

In these pandemic times, I could not meet my friend, it's been about two years now. But I don't think I have ever appreciated all the amazing work she does in such a wonderful way, because it's awkward sending anything at all, but what if it was just donuts? Something everyone loves!

How we built it

I built in last few hours of this hackathon on figma! It was a nice learning experience!!

Challenges we ran into

Our teammates exited the team midway and we were not able to implement the idea by code completely. But this idea was too interesting to be getting away without submission, so here we go! I have never used figma before and I completely leaned it in last few hours, that was quite challenging!

To be able to present this amazing idea and share a lot more donuts with y'all!

What we learned

I learned how figma works, although not completely but implementing under a tight time constraint helped me learn more!

What's next for Buy Me a Donut!

I aim to complete this project; I'll use Angular and Firebase to implement the project. Utilize google maps Api to find the nearest points of contact and recommendations and use capital one's Api to implement the donut donation seamlessly!

The Ultimate Failed Hack

We actually were almost halfway there, working on both backend and frontend to implement this. Hence, although this hack might have failed to "hack" but it was a huge sucess in terms of idea and learning!
