Inspiration

The inspiration for DontGetScammedAI came from a personal tragedy. A family member of mine lost a significant amount of money in a scam and fell into a deep depression, eventually attempting suicide. This heartbreaking experience made me realize the urgent need for a solution to protect individuals from the devastating effects of scams.

What it does

DontGetScammedAI is a chatbot that provides real-time advice on the latest scam tactics and essential helplines. It's designed to be a proactive guardian, offering immediate assistance to those at risk of falling victim to scams.

How we built it

I built DontGetScammedAI using AWS Bedrock LLM, leveraging its advanced natural language processing capabilities to understand and respond to a wide range of queries. I'm still working diligently to ensure that the chatbot is constantly updated with the latest information on scams.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring the chatbot's accuracy and reliability. I had to train it to recognize a variety of scam scenarios and provide appropriate advice. Another challenge was spreading awareness about the chatbot and encouraging people to use it as a preventive tool.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of launching a beta version of DontGetScammedAI among friends and family, which received positive feedback and valuable insights for improvement. The impact it had on preventing potential scams within our circle was encouraging and motivated me to expand its reach.

What we learned

We learned that the fight against scams is not just about technology but also about education and awareness. Building a community around DontGetScammedAI and sharing stories of how it helped prevent scams has been instrumental in its success.

What's next for DontGetScammedAI

The next step for DontGetScammedAI is to enhance its capabilities with more advanced AI features i.e Agent to file reporting in realtime and expand its reach to a wider audience. We plan to collaborate with financial institutions and community organizations to integrate the chatbot into their platforms and provide a stronger shield against scams.
