Inspiration
During quarantine I decided to try something new to keep myself sane. This is the first hackathon I have ever participated in. I wanted to make my project entertaining but at the same time educational to the public. Seeing videos of people around the world going outside without any masks made me extremely mad. It is because of these kind of people that coronavirus are spreading rapidly. There are workers out there risking their lives everyday to trying and help people. Although I can't do the same as those workers, I wanted to do my part to find a way for the people in quarantine to have a better time. So I decided to make a fun and challenging game that not only entertains people but also reminds people to wear masks when they go outside.
What it does
It is a game to entertain people during this time of crisis. The game is just challenging enough for people to be addicted to the game :)
How I built it
You can see the code I wrote in the link and go to "See Inside".
Challenges I ran into
There were plenty of bugs I had to fix, this actually took up most of my time making the project. I also had to hand color my sprites, that took a way longer time than I thought it would.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud to finish and submit my first ever project for a hackathon. The game turned out to work just the way I wanted it to.
What I learned
If you want something just go for it. I know it sounds cliche but it's true. At first I was hesitant to participate in this hackathon as I knew everyone else would be better than me and my project probably wouldn't work out the way I want it to in the end. However, I ignored these doubts and actually started and finished the game. I really had fun while I was making the project and I am glad that I decided to throw away my fears and to just do it.
What's next for Don't get sick 2020 edition
I had a great time making the project. In the future, I am definitely going to participate in more hackathons.
