Inspiration
The students in my high school classroom are often playing fast paced foot race games on their computers. I figured I could make something similar in VR and on mobile.
What it does
Players activate the spawning of a map filled with pits and obstacles. Each map is a race to the finish and can be completed in 1-3 minutes. Several unique maps with many types of obstacles between them create high replay value.
How we built it
A combination of codeblock, typescript, custom model imports, and tri-mesh primitive shapes were used to make spawning maps.
Challenges we ran into
The maps were to heavy on the headset. At first we just built them all in world, but found we would have to spawn them in and out to reduce the computing power needed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I just got accepted into the MHCP in time for this contest. Using the new tools and getting something I was happy with was difficult in the short time frame.
What we learned
Good game development takes time and should not be rushed.
