Dont Be Late

Inspiration

When planning out group hangouts and meetups, no matter the circumstance, one of your mates are always late or not on time.

What it does

Our project is a discord bot that can be used to schedule meetup plans[Events] with a set location and time inside a group channel. And when the time for the meetup comes near the bot will send instructions on how and when to get to the meetup location on time. This will be a link to a google maps page with the directions towards the meetup location.

How we built it

We used the Discord.js framework to create the back-end for the discord bot. For actual and personal use, anyone can create their own Discord bot and attach the bot key and run the back-end.

Challenges we ran into

Our team was made up of 3 back-end devs and one data analyst. None of us knew what Javascript did and some of us wrote our first line of Javascript on the first day. We spent a lot time reading documentation. Paint 3D was our design tool.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We started the Hackaton with no understanding of Javascript or Discord bots and we managed to get a working bot within the day.

What we learned

Some API's are a hassle.

What's next for Dont Be Late

Lots of features to add. Examples include: Custom events and different tags for those events. Different navigation tool options (other than Google Maps).
