Inspiration

We’ve all been burned by assistants like Siri that promise the world but fumble at basic tasks. Imagine asking for a restaurant reservation and getting stuck in IVR(Interactive Voice Response) hell—or begging for a meeting brief only to hear, “I don’t understand.” DONNA was born to fix this: a proactive AI that doesn’t just listen but acts—handling your inbox, calls, and life like a superhuman assistant. Inspired by the chaos of overloaded schedules and the dream of an AI that truly gets things done, DONNA is our love letter to productivity.

What it does

DONNA is your personal doer, blending voice, omni-channel smarts, and proactive intelligence to crush daily chaos:

Proactive Intelligence: Scores your inbox/Slack/calendar for urgency, escalates true emergencies to call, and flags meeting risks like double-bookings or missing agendas.
Doer Playbooks: Books restaurants (“Table for 5 near Venezia's Pizza, 7-8pm, next Sunday”), wrangles vendors, and chases follow-ups (“Ping Alex every 2 days until slides arrive”).
Cross-App Memory: Maps contacts across email/Slack/Teams, picks the best channel based on responsiveness, and remembers your preferences (e.g., “outdoor seating if >80°F”).
Live Call Copiloting: Whispers real-time prompts during calls (“Ask about lead time”) and auto-generates Minutes of Meeting with action items.
Wow Moments: Instant call briefs, one-tap “Make it Happen” email forwards, and dinner bookings confirmed in minutes—without you lifting a finger.

How we built it

We crafted DONNA with a lean, scalable architecture:

Intent Router: Parses natural language into tasks (e.g., “book,” “escalate”) using NLP and voice recognition.
Skill Library: Integrates Gmail, Calendar, Slack, Zoom and WhatsApp calling APIs for seamless execution.
Orchestrator: A state machine (LangGraph-inspired) manages multi-step flows like booking → confirmation → fallback.
Memory & Engines: Stores user preferences, contact graphs, and urgency scores (hybrid rules + history ).
MVP Focus: Gmail/Slack integration, urgency scoring, restaurant bookings, and call transcripts.

Challenges we ran into

IVR Mazes: Navigating automated phone systems was a beast—DONNA had to learn context awareness and callback triggers.
Timezone Drift: Calendar APIs threw curveballs with recurring events and cross-zone conflicts.
Compliance: Balancing TCPA and two-party consent laws while keeping calls natural was tricky.
Scope Creep: We wanted everything—travel concierge, team mode—but ruthlessly scoped to a tight MVP.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

End-to-End Booking: DONNA books a restaurant in <3 minutes, captures confirmations, and avoids hold times.
Proactive Alerts: Our urgency engine caught a double-booked meeting in testing, saving a demo disaster!
Trust-First Design: Granular scopes, anti-impersonation, and PII minimization which would earn user trust.
Hackathon Hustle: Built a working MVP with Gmail/Slack integration and voice calls for reservation in just 24hours
