Inspiration

One day, I was watching a show called Suits on Netflix. Harvey Specter is a renowned lawyer with one of the most renowned and intelligent secretaries ever. She remembers every small detail about his life, from his coffee preferences to his family, and every important detail that helps him succeed.

This got me thinking: I wish there was an AI assistant that could sync with every platform I use. Instead of being responsible for keeping track of everything myself, the AI could read my emails, messages, texts, and other important information to help me stay organized and make sure I never fall behind.

I imagined having a personalized calendar created specifically for me, where all I had to do was complete my responsibilities during the allotted times. This is where the dream of Donna was born.

What We Built

Donna is an AI-powered personal secretary designed to help users manage their digital lives. Instead of requiring users to manually organize every task, reminder, and event, Donna aims to understand a user's responsibilities and proactively help them stay on track.

Donna brings together organization, reminders, and AI assistance into one personalized platform. The goal is to create an assistant that does not just respond to requests, but actively helps users plan ahead and manage their responsibilities.

How We Built It

Donna was built as a full-stack web application using modern development technologies. We created a personalized dashboard where users can interact with their AI assistant and manage their tasks in one centralized location.

The project uses AI capabilities to provide intelligent assistance and was designed with future integrations in mind, including connections with calendars, email, messaging platforms, and other digital services.

Throughout development, we used modern software tools and AI-assisted development to rapidly prototype, test, and improve Donna's features.

Challenges We Faced

The biggest challenge was turning the idea of a true AI secretary into a practical application. While creating an AI chatbot is possible, building an assistant that can understand context, remember important information, and proactively help users requires much more thoughtful design.

We faced challenges including creating an intuitive user experience, designing a scalable foundation for future integrations, managing personalized user data, and developing a product that could realistically become a daily assistant.

What We Learned

Building Donna taught us that the future of AI is not just about answering questions — it is about creating assistants that understand users and help them accomplish their goals.

Through this project, we learned how to design and develop an AI-powered application, solve real-world productivity problems, and transform an idea into a functional product.
