The vast majority of homeless people don't eat throughout the week because they don't have enough money.With donateU we improve the timing and facilitate how people donate.

Inspiration

We saw that the vast majority of Americans throw away things throughout their lives that other people can use and we also saw the waste of food, making this a great loss that someone else can take advantage of.

What it does

our application is responsible for bringing the most needy people with people who are already going to get rid of some object or product, the user mounts a photo of what is going to donate and the person who is interested in talking to the person.

How we built it

our application is developed in react native which makes the development much easier by only creating a single application for both operating systems, for the database we use firebase for the convenience it has to use nosql and its part of the authentication and storage.

Challenges we ran into

the challenges we had to face was the development of the chat because we did not use any api since all of them are paid, we also had difficulties with the design of the application with the colors we were going to use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we are most proud of is the part of the uploading of information and the part of the visualization of the donations that looks good.

What we learned

we learned many more things about react native and that it is a framework that hides a lot of things that, when discovered, facilitate the development time of a method.

What's next for DonateU

the next step for DonateU is to implement a sort of collection center where people can go and drop off their things if they wish or they can call and have someone pick up the things at a very low cost for the benefit of the customer.
