Inspiration

Imagine a world where every person in need could receive support from others without worrying about financial barriers. A world where a community of people could come together to support each other in times of need, and where generosity and kindness could be freely expressed. There are several platforms solving this issue. But, there is not a proper transparency of where the donated money is spent. This is the world that our project aims to create. Donors can donate money, and the receiver receives it in the form of points (as we call Cel) that can only be spent on the items or services for which they requested donations. This provides a clear and transparent record of how the donated money is being used. Through this platform, Donors will be able to donate any amount they can afford, knowing that their contribution will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who receive it. And for those who receive donations, the ability to use those points as a form of currency provides a sense of agency and empowerment.

What it doess

DonateMe is a unique platform designed to collect and distribute funds to those in need. Unlike other fundraising platforms, DonateMe offers complete transparency to donors. By allowing donors to track their contributions and see where their money is being used, DonateMe builds trust between donors and recipients. To ensure funds are used for their intended purpose, recipients must provide receipts and pass verification tests before withdrawing funds in CEL currency. DonateMe provides a secure and reliable way for donors to make a positive impact on students' lives. Moreover, if the recipient of the funding does not use the entire amount, the recipient can choose to redirect the remaining funds to another person who requires financial assistance. This approach ensures that every dollar donated is utilized for its intended purpose, thereby optimizing the impact of each donation.

How we built it

With this project, we learned time management since hackathons are fast-paced events with tight deadlines.

Challenges we ran into

While building the app, we ran into several technical issues, such as bugs, errors, or compatibility issues. We only had a day to complete the project and it was also challenging to develop a polished project within such a limited timeframe.

What's next for DonateMe

We will have our coin on the blockchain technology and each individual who will help us verify the redemption request form will earn the CEL coin and this could also be referred to as CEL coin mining.
