continuation of the elevator pitch Each time they lose a different part of of health since the effects of not social distancing are different each time.

Inspiration

This game was inspired because of Covid-19. It has impacted many people in unimaginable ways. I am extremely grateful that my family is healthy. Each day I social distance because of my family and grandma. Some people though don't social distance. Each time someone gets Covid their health is impacted differently. Thus I made the health bar with random value to show how people get affected differently every time.

What it does

The game shows what happens if people stop social distancing.

How I built it

I built the game using Java and with help from our awesome Milton teachers

Challenges I ran into

During the Hackathon my teammate and I were using different IDEs. It took us quite a while transforming all of the code. Additionally, my teammate and I knew different languages, so in the end we chose to work individually. That took a lot of time in the beginning. Additionally there were some challenges as putting the correct pictures and finding the right pictues.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am really proud of everything I learned today, but also of everything I learned in this whole year that I have been taking Computer Programming 1. My teammate did not know a lot about Java, so I had to explain a lot of concepts multiple times. That helped a lot for me to truly understand everything we learned this year. I am also really happy that I was persistent in finishing this Hackathon since my mom told me some really sad news about my dog's health today. That made me sad, but I still wanted to finish this the best I could. I gave my best and I really put a lot of thought into the idea.

What I learned

I learned a lot of new things in Java. I made new levels. I also learned how to make multiple interactions.

What's next for Don't Forget To Social Distance!

I would like to make multiple levels in this game. If there were more levels, the game can get more addictive. If the game is addictive, more people will play it. The more people see the good message the game is promoting, the better the outcome will be.
