Inspiration
We don't want to die, and we want to go to space. But we don't want to die in space. Hence the name: Don't Die in Space.
What it does
It's a game, so you play it. You learn and you live. Maybe you'll even find love. All in space. Amazing.
How we built it
We based our code on preexisting examples as a foundation and then we did it better. We used Node.JS as a backend on a GCP VM and a web app front-end using HTML and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
We had to make our own game engine that included normal collision and elastic collision. It allows for realistic collision simulation between our ships, lasers, and asteroids.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished and delivered a working product of a fun game. We are also proud of the idea (super cool and original).
What we learned
We learned that we shouldn't over complicate and to be more creative sooner.
What's next for Don't Die in Space
If the game is popular enough, we can advertise it to a larger audience to gain more traction and eventually make money. We can also add more features and optimizations to the game to give a more enriching experience.
