Inspiration
Taking inspiration from the well-known social media app "BeReal," Don't BeFake also strives to tap into the longing for genuine social interactions rather than fabricated perfection. However, Don't BeFake takes a unique approach to achieve this goal.
What it does
Don't BeFake is a scheduling web application that empowers users to collaboratively create schedules encompassing family, friends, and others. Whether it's coordinating a social event, organizing a study group, planning financial discussions with an advisor, exploring career opportunities, and beyond, the platform caters to a diverse range of needs.
What sets Don't BeFake apart is its innovative twist that deters insincere commitments—introducing consequences. When an individual misses an event, the event coordinator prescribes an appropriate consequence. While the nature of these consequences may vary, one outcome remains consistent—the individual is designated as "FAKE."
How I built it
I crafted the frontend of the application using React, HTML, CSS, and JS, ensuring a captivating and intuitive user interface. The design facilitates effortless scheduling, commitment management, and a clear view of group activities.
The backend remains a work in progress and is intended to be developed using Node.js or Express.js to adeptly handle HTTP requests.
Challenges I ran into
The journey was not without its challenges, notably stemming from gaps in my knowledge.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Several achievements stand out:
Mastering the fundamentals of HTML/CSS: Proficiency in these foundational tools is paramount for structuring and styling the website. Evolution through updates and iterations: Although the site remains a work in progress, consistent refinements and enhancements have been made over time.
What we learned
This endeavor has been revelatory, underscoring my affinity for the craft. Through my site, I've harnessed the power of expression—be it through writing, visual elements, layout, or more.
What's next for Don't BeFake
The immediate horizon involves finalizing this project and ushering it into the public domain.
