Inspiration
Finance is a barrier that prevents many intelligent and determined students from going to college and building their future. Just this year, a senior was accepted into Stanford University from our high school. This was a huge accomplishment for the school and him. Unfortunately, they were not able to go due to financial constraints and opted for a less expensive school, missing out on the great opportunity. Similarly, numerous students have had their goals and opportunities taken away, which has inspired us to create the Cash4College website.
What it does
Cash4College provides a deeper insight into the problem with education and financial issues. The website provides relatable stories, insight into financial stress, encouragement, scholarships, internships, and colleges that are affordable and available to the less privileged. The website offers hope for those who need financial support for education.
How we built it
We built Cash4College using replit. We created several files for each webpage and created a clean and easy to navigate UI. We also built our website while thinking of the tens of thousands of students across the world who are struggling mentally due to financial stress.
Challenges we ran into
The most challenging part of the website was coding with CSS, as we often ran into alignment issues that we had no idea how to solve. However, we did what we could by reversing the code and slightly altering the style to get it to work as we wanted it to. Ensuring all the web pages had a similar UI design was also challenging, and we ran into problems getting the text and designs to stay in place.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the final result of our website because we were able to perfect the UI. We're also proud of the valuable information and support our website provides.
What we learned
By completing this project, our team was able to gain experience in coding with CSS, HTML, and using replit. We were also able to educate ourselves about education and financial support.
What's next for Cash4College
Next, we hope to publish our website so it can be accessible on the internet for those who are less privileged for affording college. We also hope to publicize the website through social media.
