Dollar banknote

Inspiration

During my high school, some blind students were studying with us and had a problem with banknotes, they would turn to some people they trusted to ask them about it.

Sometimes my colleague has a banknote of high denomination and does not want to take it out in front of people so as not to be deceived, but he has to because of his lack of vision, and that is why I invented this lens to solve this problem

What it does

The lens can detect and read banknotes to help blind people know the value of the banknotes they hold

How we built it

I collected pictures of US dollar of all denominations with their different versions, and recorded the name of each banknote

With "Image Tracking" you can add a sound that plays automatically as soon as you point the camera at the photo

Challenges we ran into

Diversity of paper currency denominations as there is more than one issue of one currency. This was the biggest challenge for me and it took me a long time to collect data related to currencies

One of the challenges, I was not able to import images of a single denomination paper currency to Photoshop to clean it and optimize it, and that was because some safety reasons.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I think I solved a big problem that blind people face. Now the value of the money can be checked through the phone's camera(Snapchat lens) without fear of fraud and this is the biggest achievement for me.
