Inspiration

As the quarantine has extended in Mexico, we had noticed a lot of people sharing experiences where they felt bored, trapped, or even anxious. We noticed that the environment in which people were forced to live in, be it for familiar or personal reasons, was not beneficial for their mental health.

What it does

This is an entertainment app, in which the user is given first tested on their personal preferences. Based on these result, the app will return various challenges that the person will complete in exchange for a virtual score. The main focus of these tasks will be to develop a specific interest the user may have, as well as to share the results with people with similar proficiency at those disciplines.

Challenges we ran into

Being able to reconcile a system that motivates people while also keeping the main objective of mental health was one of the main difficulties we faced. It was difficult to find a way to keep the task from becoming dull or monotone without including a form of social interaction. However, this proved to be problematic since comparison with other people’s work could be detrimental to the main objective of the app. Therefore, we decided to divide people in level of proficiency, where they will only interact with people of their same “level” until they gather experience point to prove that they have advanced in proficiency. Therefore, a display of a great work of a person will not result in a reaction of “innate talent” but rather one of hard work and dedication.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very satisfied with the proposed model that integrates mechanics often used in Role Playing Games (RPG), like level progression and experience, in a way that proposes a healthy method of self improvement.
