Inspiration
Students and Staff face frequent broken accessibility features. They're left to find their own way around campus when routes are accessible, affecting both their academic and social lives.
What it does
Tracks accessibility features on campus, allows user to report issues and knowing of issues
Considerations
This system must address both reliability and accessibility. To mitigate misuse or inaccurate reporting, we incorporate an AI-driven trust layer that evaluates report credibility based on factors such as frequency, recency, and staff verification, supported by a clear traffic-light status system (including an “amber” state for uncertainty). Additionally, the interface itself must be fully accessible, prioritizing high-contrast visuals, simple and intuitive design, and multiple forms of communication (text, color, icons) to avoid reliance on any single modality, while ensuring compatibility with screen readers.
Impact
We believe this product has great potential to improve student and staff life on campus, allowing easier tracking and flagging of disability features malfunctions. Difficulty navigating campus impacts learning, teaching and working as well as social life.
What we learned
Accessible software design
