Inspiration
This project was inspired by videos of people picking up trash.
What it does
It's a video game where the player plays as a dodo collecting trash for points.
How we built it
We coded it in Godot.
Challenges we ran into
Using GitHub and learning how the push and pulling functions work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Leaning Godot and making a working game in 24 hours.
What we learned
We were introduced to using GitHub, and learned how to work under pressure by making a project in a very limited timeframe.
What's next for Dodo
Improving the graphics, and making out own pixel art for the game as we are currently using placeholder sprites from the internet.
History
In the lush paradise of Mauritius, 1662, you play as Pip, the last remaining dodo bird who discovered an ancient crystal that granted her unexpected intelligence and the ability to understand human speech. Unlike her peaceful but naive kin, Pip has become aware of the grave danger facing her species. The island has become a stopping point for Dutch sailors, bringing with them cats, rats, and pigs that threaten the dodos' eggs and chicks. More alarmingly, the sailors themselves have begun hunting dodos for food, not realizing they're driving these unique birds to extinction.
