Inspiration
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was evident that the lack of knowledge and social practices led to the faster spread of the virus, so we wanted to educate individuals, especially children, what measures they should take to reduce the impact of a virus.
What it does
A game created in order to educate children about the effects and possible repercussions of COVID-19. This game includes various scenarios where the children must make the correct decision in order to stay safe.
How I built it
We built this application in the Python language by using the Pygame visual framework by implementing various data structures, classes and properties.
Challenges I ran into
With this being our first hackathon, our lack of experience caused us to run into many roadblocks and technical problems. However, now that we found more effective strategies, we have learned how to better confront any challenges we may encounter in future hackathons. In fact, we developed other means of communication and our collaborative skills to productively complete the program.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Coding with pygame was a new experience for us and we are proud of the graphical design, transition and creativity we have brought to this project.
What I learned
We learned how to work more efficiently for the next Hackathon we attend, and we learned how to organize ourselves effectively as well.
What's next for Dodge the Virus
We hope to make the algorithm more efficient and be able to officially publicize the program on other platforms like mobile applications or a web store where clients will be able to access it.
