Inspiration The game draws inspiration from the aesthetics and gameplay of old Nintendo games, aiming to capture the nostalgic feel while introducing a novel gameplay mechanic.
What it does Players engage in a multiplayer version of dodgeball where the balls are replaced by fire balls. Up to 10 players can participate, making it a cooperative or competitive experience in a 3D 8-bit environment.
How we built it We developed the game using TypeScript code and employed Blender for creating the graphics, giving the game its unique 8-bit look in a 3D space.
Challenges we ran into The primary challenges were around perfecting the physics engine to make the fire ball mechanics realistic yet fun, and ensuring the gameplay was engaging and enjoyable.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We're particularly proud of completing the project within a tight deadline, especially given the personal hardships many team members were facing. It's a testament to our collective resilience and dedication.
What we learned We learned the importance of business development, collaboration, and maintaining strong friendships within the team. Without these elements, this project would not have been possible.
What's next for FIREBALLS! The future includes expanding the game with more maps, introducing a shop where players can buy 8-bit pixel gear, and adding different types of fire balls with special abilities to enhance gameplay variety and strategy.
