Inspiration
The use of possibly saving wildlife is what really inspired me to work on this project. Also, I just like to be as helpful as I can.
What it does
It takes surveys and can upload the coordinates from the survey to the photos automatically.
How we built it
I built it using Node.js as the back end and React as the front end.
Challenges we ran into
Definitely getting mediaValet connected was a challenge. I also had a challenging time getting the mongodb connection to connect on production for some reason. I do have an azure instance live but the mongodb was not working on it so I did the video in localhost.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of getting most of the workflow functioning in the time I had.
What we learned
I learned that it can be a real challenge to protect wildlife out in the real world. Also, I learned other methods of connecting to API services.
What's next for Docutraps
I would love to fully flesh out the app I have started. I believe it has a real potential to make life easier when it comes to that whole workflow. I would have love to insert an Esri map with points filled in from where surveys where taken and be able to click on a point and see what surveys and pictures have been taken there. I would also like to have the dashboard fleshed out, it really could have been useful.
