Inspiration Doctory was born from my personal journey first as a healthcare professional, and later as a cancer patient navigating a fragmented and inefficient system. Experiencing firsthand the frustration of repeating my clinical history, miscommunication between providers, and lack of control over my own data, I realized the urgent need for a solution that truly empowers patients while easing the burden on health professionals.
What it does Doctory is a decentralized digital health identity platform that lets patients securely manage and share their medical records, habits, and wearable data—chronologically and under full consent. For healthcare providers, insurers, and researchers, it offers anonymized, structured, and auditable datasets, helping prevent fraud, reduce diagnostic errors, and fuel new medical insights through ethical data monetization.
How we built it We built Doctory using blockchain technology to ensure data integrity, privacy, and ownership. The platform includes a custom EVM-compatible chain, integration with wearables, a web interface, and an identity verification layer. It’s designed for interoperability and low-energy operations, so users can access their data without relying on centralized clouds.
Challenges we ran into We faced challenges in making advanced technologies like blockchain accessible to non-technical users especially patients and professionals. We also had to carefully navigate health data regulations, ensure consent flows were clear, and balance data privacy with usability. Additionally, building trust in an emerging health tech product from Latin America required strategic communication and partnerships.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We’ve developed a fully functional prototype, synced it with a working testnet, and onboarded early users—including patients and healthcare professionals. We’ve also validated the demand through real-world interviews and built an experienced team across medicine, blockchain, and communication. As a female founder, leading this project from both sides of the system (clinical and patient) is a milestone that grounds our mission.
What we learned We learned that true innovation in health isn’t just technological—it’s human. Patients crave autonomy. Professionals need better tools. And trust is the key to adoption. We also learned that blockchain, when applied with empathy and precision, can radically improve how health information flows—securely, transparently, and ethically.
What’s next for Doctory We’re preparing to launch a pilot with selected clinics and researchers, scale our wearable integration, and expand our data-sharing features under clear patient consent. We're also exploring partnerships with insurers and clinical trial organizations to unlock monetization pathways. Our next funding round will help us grow our infrastructure, regulatory readiness, and go-to-market strategy across Latin America and beyond.
