Doctors On Demand

Inspiration

We wanted to create this app because we are living in a time with immense amounts of stress and anxiety on people’s backs. We know how hard and dangerous it is for everyone, especially elders to leave their house and we wanted everyone to feel safe without the need of going out. This app is viable even after this pandemic is over as new features continue to roll in into our app.

What it does

The app provides many features such as a COVID-19 Information section, COVID-19 Live tracker, Connect to a live Doctor, a custom chatbot that checks for symptoms whether you should go to the Hospital.

How I built it

We first designed the app on AdobeXD and we built both our frontend and backend in the programming language Kotlin.

Challenges I ran into

One of the main challenges we faced was connecting the API to our application.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am very proud to have a viable product that not only looks good but also performs the tasks thrown at it. Also very proud of how a working app was built in a very short amount of time.

What I learned

I learned a lot about Android Development, API use, a whole new programming language and also how to make beautiful designs as well in AdobeXD and implement it into the app.

What's next for Doctors On Demand

We plan to make our chatbot system better, have monthly updates where new content and more information is added. In the short amount of time given to us, we decided to tackle the problem of COVID-19 but later on, we also want to go to other diseases and viruses and give information on how to stay safe and talk to a doctor when in need,
