π Inspiration
Access to timely, accurate healthcare remains a global challenge. Many communities face long wait times, misdiagnoses, and a shortage of medical professionals. During personal family health challenges, we saw how delays and human error can risk lives and increase anxiety.
We asked:
βWhat if AI could assist doctors and patients by providing instant, accurate assessments and smart health management, ensuring everyone receives quality care, anywhere?β
Inspired by UN SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), we built MedicaAI to empower users and healthcare providers with fast, AI-powered diagnostics, appointment management, and health monitoring, making healthcare accessible, efficient, and reliable.

- Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS for a clean, responsive, accessible user interface where users can input symptoms, upload reports, and view results seamlessly.
- Backend: FastAPI (Python) for scalable API handling and fast request-response cycles.
- AI Models:
- OpenAI GPT-4: Symptom checker and health Q&A for initial patient triage.
- YOLOv8: Detecting conditions in uploaded X-rays and skin lesion images.
- TensorFlow/PyTorch: ML models for disease prediction and health insights.
- Database: Firebase Firestore for secure patient data, appointments, and report storage.
- Notifications: Real-time email and push notifications for appointment reminders and critical alerts.
- Deployment: Vercel (frontend) and Railway/Render (backend) for CI/CD and global availability.
