Inspiration

As population is increasing and economies of countries expand, the need for an immediate and accessible health facicilities is a critical sector. In most cities, towns and especially in remote or underserved areas, the Traditional healthcare systems often struggle to provide immediate access to medical expertise. This delay in consultation can lead to the worsening of health conditions, increased anxiety, and higher healthcare costs. This has led to us having to come up with a tool that can bridge the time and geographical gap that divides patients and medical experts.

What it does

Doctari is an AI-powered telehealth mobile app that aims to address these challenges by offering users a convenient platform to access healthcare services. The app integrates artificial intelligence to provide initial assessments, symptom checks, and health recommendations, helping users understand their conditions before consulting with a specialist. Additionally, the app includes a one-on-one live chat feature that connects users directly with medical specialists. This allows for personalized, real-time consultations, where patients can discuss their symptoms, receive professional advice, and obtain prescriptions or referrals as needed. The combination of AI-driven diagnostics and direct access to healthcare professionals ensures that users receive timely and accurate medical attention, enhancing overall patient outcomes and satisfaction.

How we built it

For this solutions address these challenges it has a combination of technologis as listed below. Navigation: For managing app navigation between screens. Lifecycle: For handling activity and fragment lifecycle states.  Firebase: For authentication, real-time database, cloud messaging, and other backend services. Firebase Authentication: For OTP-based login and user management. Firebase Realtime Database: For real-time chat and data synchronization. Firebase Cloud Messaging: For push notifications.  Camera2 API: For capturing and processing images.  Media Recorder: For recording video calls.  WebRTC: For peer-to-peer communication (for video calls).  AI and Machine Learning AI Framework: Gemini (flash model)

One of the challenges we had was accessing patients data to test the systems with as we have to adhere to data privacy rules

Doctari has managed to let patients choose from a pool of experts in the health sector hence a large are a to get qualified services. The use AI to give unbiased and free medical advice is a very important aspect of the app

We have learnt that irrespectve of a field in the Tech space we can bring change to other sectors that affect us as citizens and human

What's next for Doctari : AI Telehealth Mobile App

The next step for Doctari is to add voice assistance and recognition so as to be able to support voice commands and fine tune it to be multilingual
