Inspiration

Living in a rural area, I have seen the impact of COVID-19 on restaurants. With many places offering just takeout, or delivery, it has been difficult to find which places without going to each Facebook page, calling, etc.

What it does

This website allows businesses to quickly add their business without the need of a account, paying, or even data collection for marketing such as email address, etc. It's a simple form that is automatically stored in a database to be accessed by a user looking for options in their area.

How I built it

Custom coded HTML with CSS, PHP and MySql. The database is housed in a MySql file and is then rendered by the PHP code for the search function.

Challenges I ran into

Finding a good UI. I have to thank Mervin Johnsingh for offering tips and suggestions in the Slack Group.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I came up with an idea that can help support local businesses while also helping the general population make their decision making a little bit easier.

What I learned

I learned that a good UI is important. Also, that people are willing to come together and help each other because they want too and not because the have too.

What's next for Do You Deliver?

Continue to work on a revised UI/UX and attempt to socially market the platform so that businesses and users can benefit from the site.
