Inspiration

"Do The Zombie Hop!" was inspired by the golden age of novelty records- the 1960s. Songs that didn’t take themselves too seriously, but always made you smile. I set out to recreate that feeling using modern generative AI tools, crafting a cartoon world where zombies perform with heart and humor.

What it does

My video is a comedic music video where a band of zombies perform and dance in a moonlit graveyard, turning an eerie setting into a playful celebration. It blends music, humor, and storytelling to create a short, cinematic burst of undead charm

How we built it

The project combined several AI tools to bring Do The Zombie Hop! to life. The lyrics were developed with creative assistance from ChatGPT, while the upbeat music was composed through Suno AI. Each zombie band member and dancer was designed with ChatGPT-generated character concepts and brought to visual life using Nano Banana for detailed backgrounds. All animation, performance syncing, and final lip-sync work were completed in WAN 2.5 on the Pollo AI platform, resulting in a cohesive and lively 3D-styled music video. The final edit was assembled and polished in Adobe Premiere Elements.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was achieving consistent lip syncing across scenes, especially with multiple zombie characters singing and performing at once. Fine-tuning those moments took several passes to keep the animation feeling natural without losing its quirky charm.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud of how Do The Zombie Hop! came together as a complete story; from concept to lyrics to full animation, all working in harmony and in a period of two weeks. Seeing the finished piece featured on the AI Music Video Show and connecting with viewers who enjoyed its humor made the effort truly worthwhile.

What we learned

I learned how to push my visual style further - keeping characters consistent, expressive, and entertaining across multiple shots. Do The Zombie Hop! helped me fine-tune my workflow for building narrative-driven music videos that feel polished and cinematic.

What's next for Do The Zombie Hop!

Do The Zombie Hop! inspired me to keep exploring music-driven animated shorts that mix humor, nostalgia, and personality. My next projects will build on that spirit, developing new characters and refining the blend of storytelling, music, and visual rhythm.
