Inspiration
We had many experiences on how difficult it was to donate products such as hair and clothing (one would need to go through many steps), and we thought that if someone really wanted to help others by donating products, it shouldn't be a hassle.
What it does
It facilitates the process of donating items to organizations.
How we built it
We used a framework called Ionic and the Google Maps API.
Challenges we ran into
The Google Maps API was really frustrating to work with because there were many steps you had to take in order to connect the API to the app and have it show up on the screen. After everything, we still weren't able to fully implement the Google Maps API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The app is a working prototype, which is something we're proud of because we only had 24 hours to make it, and our idea was especially ambitious because we had to use Google Maps API.
What we learned
We learned how to use Ionic and more about Typescript and SCSS because in the past, we had only used JavaScript and CSS, so through this experience, we gained more knowledge on the differences between them.
What's next for DNRS
We hope to continue to work on the app and connect with organizations to sponsor this project.
