Wizards of the Coast recently came out with a new edition of Dungeons and Dragons called D&D Next, or D&D 5e. Despite great improvements in ease-of-use, including reducing the steep learning curve common with tabletop games, a beginning player can easily be overwhelmed with all of the information. The basic rules, the shortened, free-to-download rules available online, are 115 pages long!
Creating a character is the most daunting (but rewarding!) hurdle a beginning player has to overcome before they're ready to play. There are simply too many options for a brand new player to be able to parse the information quickly and effectively.
That's why I programmed an online, D&D Next character creator. My hope is that it will make D&D more accessible to the uninitiated.
