Inspiration: I got really into learning how to play D&D a few days ago and I thought it’d be cool to be able to make a character creator since there is little to none effective character creator websites and apps
What it does: You get to choose from series of drop down and input text and it creates the character for you based on the Player’s Handbook of D&D. It appends the type of Race, Class, Alignment, and Background for your character stats and traits for you.
How we built it: I first tried to use Java but then I got into using HTML to make my own website from scratch! There are a huge amount of traces of javascript to help make the app come to life!
Challenges we ran into: Theres a lot of information so inputting that took a massive amount of time. Applying Generative AI to my work kept breaking and I nearly gave up but I made it work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: That I was able to make an alright character creator while being able to utilize gemini api.
What we learned: HTML and a lot of patience :)
What's next for DND Creator: Maybe I can continue off and branch into well known home brew styles and have more detailed information for each class and race. This creator is meant for beginners to get excited and into the world of D&D
