Inspiration

We were inspired by the ever-growing popularity of augmented reality and its potential to revolutionize the way people interact with their daily surroundings. With the rise of AR technology, we saw an opportunity to enhance people's experience of commuting on the Delhi Metro.

What it does

This AR filter overlays the Delhi Metro map routes onto a metro card, providing a new and innovative way for commuters to visualize the metro network and plan their journeys.

How we built it

The filter was built using Lens Studio by Snap Inc. We utilized object recognition technology to detect the metro card and then used AR to overlay the Delhi Metro map routes onto the card. The map was created using a combination of 2D graphics and 3D models to provide a visually appealing and interactive experience. The tools used for the same were Adobe Photoshop and Figma. After processing the image exactly how we needed it, we brought it into Lens Studio to bring the experience to reality.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring that the AR overlay was correctly aligned with the metro card, as the orientation and position of the card can vary greatly from user to user. Additionally, we had to find a way to accurately display the complex metro network in a manner that was both intuitive and easy to understand for users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have created an AR filter that provides a unique and engaging experience for Delhi Metro commuters. The filter has received positive feedback from users, who appreciate the added convenience and accessibility it provides. Peers and people in our network also reacted very positively to this AR experience.

What we learned

Through this project, we gained a deeper understanding of AR technology and the challenges involved in creating AR filters. We also learned the importance of user-centered design and the need to consider the needs and preferences of the target audience when developing AR applications.

What's next for DMRC Simplified

We plan to continue improving the Delhi Metro AR filter by adding new features and incorporating user feedback. Additionally, we hope to expand our AR technology to other areas and create more innovative and interactive experiences for users.
