Inspiration
We wanted to CS-maxx, we already did rock climbing, so DJ-ing was next. We wanted to learn how to DJ but we're poor and inexperienced to learn how via traditional software.
What it does
An clean, zen-like interface for practicing your launchpad skills, initiating smooth transitions with a crossfade, as well as automatic AI queue of songs.
How we built it
We split into:
- UX/ Frontend
- Voice-related backend
- AI-related backend
Challenges we ran into
Handling text to speech and dealing with our API issues
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our core data pipeline that makes the AI song queuing work. (natural language -> youtube link -> mp3 -> queue) We are also very proud of our single paged, design forward user experience.
What we learned
Voice AI is hard, but it is so rewarding towards pushing your product to the next level. Also building an intuitive front-end is a very iterative experience.
What's next for dj-dhx
Adding more traditional DJ features such as sampling and reverse track.
