Inspiration
I have often thought about how people with disorders in rural areas get help. I attended an autism festival in 8th grade and noticed that every autistic person there came from a wealthy family with supportive parents. However, I have also seen people with these disorders in rural areas, where they receive no help and are often deemed as mad. There are NGOs helping these individuals, and I want to support these NGOs through technology, which is what I do best.
What it does
So my website, I provide my website to NGO's free of cost, there are some organizations that I can reach out to for grants but I do not make money out of NGO's. I just provide my website to NGO's the website Is designed keeping in mind that the students could be using it themselves too so the colour, the font and the lack of ads so they don't get distracted easily everything taken care of, all the content is centre aligned with wide spaces on the left and right this is helpful for our users. The website has games, they will learn through games which are engaging and specific to their needs, for example, if someone has Alzheimer's or shows early symptoms we provide them a memory game. So making learning easier for them through games and education should be for everyone just because someone is slow at learning doesn't mean they should not be given a chance to learn.
How we built it
The website is straightforward and easy to use for both instructors and students. It is designed with the understanding that people at NGOs may not be very tech-savvy. Autism toys, for instance, are expensive and often of poor quality, not lasting long. The website provides online solutions, reducing the need for physical toys. A combination of toys and the website proves effective
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge is bringing more unique games and that is also the next target more personalized games, other issues were development ones which did get resolved frontend backend integration took some time but it eventually happened.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I think this could prove to be a wonderful solution to an existing problem and the website design is all in accordance with user needs. So I am proud of the fact that I could come up with a solution like this and implement it too, it wasn't just left to ideation.
What we learned
I learned a lot about neurodivergent people and their needs other than that I mostly do backend so I also learnt a thing or two about frontend.
What's next for DIVYANG (The divine organ)
Coming up with more features like goodies and points on achieving a deadline to encourage students other than that also, coming up with more games and activities which students can perform, making our own unique games with more ideation, probably would need a team for that.
