Inspiration
Diversify is born behind the idea of how many of us don't really know about the many cultures that are present in our own country. This creates a negative prejudice on the long term, and we wanted to help solve that.
What it does
Diversify is a platform that allows you to choose form a wine variety of local cultural experiences ranging from your local community up to the whole country.
How we built it
We first started prototyping Diversify through many design and prototyping tools like Sketch and Principle. We then built the platform on the Swift programming language, using Firebase as our backend. We then felt like we could do more, so we incorporated a web app for it as well, built purely on HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
The 24 hours we had during our time in HackMTY were some of the most challenging we four have had in a situation like this. We're freshmen in college, so everything was new to us, but we fortunately decided on an idea we four agreed on and went from there, no sleep until it was done.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're very proud of how the final product turned out. One of the most tedious features to get right was Facebook authentication using Firebase as a backend. It was a pretty simple process once we got the hang of to, but a pain when we were trying to get there. Being able to create a beautiful looking user interface is something we are all proud of, and will forever be.
What we learned
That's a good question. The main thing we all learned from this was how to manage our time during stressful situations. We had to learn what we did't know and execute what we just learned. It was a fun process.
What's next for diversify
Diversify has a big future. Next step would be to start A/B testing on potential users. See what they really need and what they don't iterate and repeat.
