Inspiration
wanted to further our knowledge about electrical and programming. We picked a topic that was interesting to us and seemed possible for us to do.
What it does
The distance helper find the distance of an object up to 350 cm away. It uses a laser diode to help pinpoint your target. We incorporated a OLED display to display the range and also used a bluetooth module to send the output to any android phone with a app, this makes it easier to view the output.
How we built it
We used a arduino and attached a rangefinder with a bluetooth module. We also set up a OLED display.
Challenges we ran into
We had little previous knowledge of several of the sensors and devices we used in the project. We had to learn how to setup and communicate with a bluetooth serial monitor, OLED display, and an ultrasonic rangefinder.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning how to program with arduino. Also learning how to use the rangefinder and the Bluetooth device to output the range on a phone.
What we learned
We learned how to program with arduino and working with a range finder and working with a bluetooth module. We also improved our knowledge about circutes.
What's next for Distance Helper
further expanding on our idea and making it more consumer friendly. We plan on further improving little and big things on our concept.
