● Inspiration □DisplacedAid AI was inspired by the growing humanitarian crises around the world, where displaced communities struggle to communicate their urgent needs while aid organizations lack timely and accurate data. Seeing how delays and miscommunication can cost lives motivated us to build a smarter, AI-driven solution that puts people’s needs first.
What it does
□DisplacedAid AI is an AI-powered humanitarian assistance platform that helps displaced people request aid and helps organizations respond faster. It collects assistance requests through simple digital channels, analyzes them using Gemini 3, prioritizes urgent cases, and provides actionable insights to aid providers so they can deliver food, clean water, medical care, and shelter more effectively.
How we built it
□We built DisplacedAid AI around Gemini 3 as the core intelligence layer. Requests from displaced people are collected via SMS or simple web forms and processed by Gemini 3 to understand multilingual and unstructured text. The system then classifies needs, prioritizes emergencies, and generates summaries and recommendations that can be viewed on a dashboard by humanitarian organizations.
Challenges we ran into
□One of the main challenges was designing a solution that works for low-resource environments where internet access is limited. Another challenge was ensuring that AI prioritization remains human-centered and ethical, especially when dealing with sensitive humanitarian data and urgent life-critical situations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
▪︎Successfully integrating Gemini 3 to understand and prioritize real-world humanitarian requests ▪︎Designing a scalable and impact-focused solution for displaced communities ▪︎Creating a clear bridge between displaced people and aid organizations ▪︎Building a project with strong social impact and real-world relevance
What we learned
□We learned how powerful AI can be when applied responsibly to humanitarian challenges. We also gained valuable experience in using Gemini 3 for multilingual understanding, reasoning, and prioritization, as well as designing solutions that focus on impact rather than complexity.
What's next for DISPLACEDAID AI
□Next, we plan to expand DisplacedAid AI with offline and low-bandwidth support, integrate mapping and geolocation features, and collaborate with NGOs and humanitarian agencies. We also aim to add predictive analytics to help anticipate crises before they escalate.
