Inspiration
We were inspired by always being unsure of what restaurants to go to when browsing the city and wanted to create a website that displays such information with other features all on a simple page.
What it does
This website helps you decide where to eat based on the images, location, and food rating. It also shows the google map image of where that restaurant is located.
How we built it
We used Figma to design how the website should look and used React, CSS, and HTML.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was trying to decide which API to use, as there was Yelp API and Google Places API and how to incorporate the API into the project, as none of us had prior experience working with the API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud of using graphics and making the interface look like the Figma design. We also worked collaboratively on making and brainstorming ideas for the project.
What we learned
We learned a lot about React and how to authenticate and potentially fetch data from the API.
What's next for Dishcovery
We hope to successfully add the API and add more features such as price ranges and dietary restrictions. Another idea would be getting the user location in real time.
