Inspiration
We're indecisive people, so we made a web app to make deciding what to eat easier!
What it does
Using your location and preferences, Dish Decider will find and match restaurants to you. Log in with Google to have your preferences (and aversions) saved, and use our group function to help settle the age-old question: "What should we eat?"
How we built it
We used Cursor to help us implement our ideas and Perplexity as our main agent (that the user interacts with). To showcase different restaurants, locations, reviews, etc., we utilized Google's Places API. We also used Firestore to authenticate and sign in through Google, and stored the user's data (preferences, location, history) within Firestore's database.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges we ran into were with Firestore and how to save the information we gather in it. Setting up our webpage via Google Cloud was also a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our idea! We think that this is genuinely a useful tool to help people like us decide what to eat.
What we learned
We learned how to use AI agents to build an app, from idea to launch.
What's next for Dish Decider
We are mostly thinking of improving the overall functionality of Dish Decider. Future iterations could include monetization through affiliate marketing, whether that be through delivery apps or restaurant sponsorships.
